Getting Braces for Your Teeth
Everything you need to know for your initial orthodontic consultation.
Upon your arrival for your initial consultation for orthodontic treatment, we’ll orient you to our office and help you check in with our automated sign-in service.
Next, we will ask some questions. These questions will help us get to know you and better understand how to address your orthodontic concerns. We’ll take a few photographs of your face and teeth and take a complimentary panoramic X-ray. We will introduce you to the different types of dental braces we offer, and then you’ll meet with Dr. Cox.
We will then conduct a thorough examination to discuss the solutions possible for your orthodontic issues. During any stage of the orthodontic process, we always encourage our patients to ask questions. We LOVE dental questions, so PLEASE ASK!!!
Diagnostic Records & Orthodontic Treatment Planning
If orthodontic treatment is recommended, the next step is diagnostic records. These records consist of study models, diagnostic photographs, and orthodontic X-rays. These records are all obtained at our office. The procedure requires about 20-30 minutes and can be completed during your initial visit. Once we have the records, Dr. Cox will review the information and design a treatment plan specific to your orthodontic needs.
Dentist Visits & Braces Care
We recommend a visit to your dentist to confirm good oral health before initiating orthodontic treatment. Regular dental visits are also necessary during orthodontic treatment.
Please note that we can make your visit most informative for you if you come with the following information:
- The name of your dentist and any x-rays provided to you (if applicable)
- A list of medications you or your child are presently taking
- Any dental insurance information
